Discover the thrill of competitive chess with Lymm Chess Club. Whether you're aiming for the top of the league or simply looking for a friendly game, our teams offer a vibrant and engaging experience for all. Come and be a part of our growing success.

Our competitive spirit
Lymm Chess Club proudly fields two teams, an A and a B team, in the highly competitive Warrington League. We also participate in local cup competitions and the exciting South Manchester Summer League.
Each team typically consists of five players, expanding to six for the summer league. Our players adhere strictly to the Warrington League rules, ensuring fair and challenging play. While rankings often reflect experience, beginners are warmly welcomed and quickly improve by playing alongside and against seasoned members. Beyond league games, Tuesday nights are perfect for sociable, friendly matches.
Team players are registered with the English Chess Federation, enhancing their competitive journey. It’s a fantastic experience, offering competitive fun and a significant boost to your chess ability. Our resident master, Tom Quilter, is always on hand to offer guidance.
Whether playing at home or away, facing each club twice a season, the league results are always keenly followed. Forget City v United; the Warrington local league is much better!

Our journey and achievements
We are thrilled to be middle-placed in both the A and B divisions, a testament to our growing experience and dedication. Having been established for three years, Lymm Chess Club has shown consistent improvement, and we continue to strive for excellence. Joining our teams means becoming part of this upward trajectory, where you'll not only enhance your game but also contribute to our collective success. We believe in fostering a supportive environment where every player can thrive and reach their full potential.
